On Monday October 29, at 8 PM, in Vienna Town Hall, the Vienna Town Council will vote on the proposed building for 444 Maple West/Tequila Grande. Please attend. Here are some relevant links.
If you don’t know about Maple Avenue Commercial (MAC) zoning, you should read the back story, then look at the projects proposed so far.
If you are familiar with the 444 Maple West/Tequila Grande proposal, you might want to look at my analysis of the updated plans, and then look at the final plans as posted on the Town of Vienna website.
In a nutshell, this is a very large building compared to the rest of Maple Avenue, and this and other nearby projects will bring in a lot of new residents compared to the surrounding surrounding neighborhoods. Here’s a graphic to show the count of dwelling units in the first two MAC buildings proposed for this area of Maple.
It’s not too much of an exaggeration to say that this vote is about the future of Maple Avenue. If the Town Council accepts this proposal, it’s hard to imagine they will turn down anything. And so we will begin the transition to a Falls-Church-like commercial canyon on Maple Avenue.
