It still looks like we’re on track for an early September peak of the current wave. The U.S. stands at 45.1 new cases / 100K / day, the one-week increase was 14%.
In terms of the level of daily new cases, this wave remains concentrated in the South, very much like last year’s summer wave.
Most of the states with extremely high new case counts (e.g., Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi) have low or negative increases in those counts. This week, West Virginia stands out as an anomaly, as the new case rate nearly doubled in the past week.
